Structure of Kampung House
The design in contemporary architecture such as shading and ventilation qualities present; there
are common style and similarities shared among compare others style of kampung house like built on stilts, have
stairs, partitioned rooms, vernacular roof and adorned with decoration.
The
design of kampung house roof is gable roof, it's best suited for hot and humid
tropical climate. The gable roof can be found in the design of Rumah Lipat
Kajang which in Jambi and Riau. The pyramidal pitched roof also can be found,
such as Rumah Limas which in Palembang, Riau, Johor, Malacca, Pahang,
Terengganu and Selangor.

There has different roof in different from the kampung house design like large roof space on the long house, papua roof, trusses roof and others. 3 of the roof that I mention is shown below the picture.

From
the image we can see the kampung house is designed to ventilate for the whole
house. It's starting from the roof of house are high - pitched with verandas or
porches in the front and large windows. The
high ceiling and loads big opening is for cross - ventilation and qualities
present also carved with an intricate organic design. Basic of the house
features for deterring thieves and added ventilation. Every design is based on
the user need and want like the body height of the house which is for the wind,
the large overhangs to offers protection from the rain and including the roof
and ceiling.
The
image is showing the detail of the Kampung house in the village with the coconut
tree for shading, food, making implements, construction and also as a fuel; is
the most famous tree in the Malaysia. The raised house level prevents animals,
provide privacy and catch winds of higher velocity; the storage space is for
fuel (firewood, coconut leaves and so on), padi and padi - planting implements
and bicycle; the house compound is for drying materials, space for social
interaction and work, besides that also a children's playground. The drainage
is waste water from kitchen drained and soaked into the sandy ground plus the
attap roof that's made by villagers themselves, the roof is made from natural
materials, waterproof, cooling and does not absorb heat. Toilet is pour flush
toilet, easy to build and maintain; it's cheap and hygienic. All the well for
washing clothes, bathing and something to drinking, the coconut leaves form
privacy barrier and the concrete slabs as pavement.
