Dining Room of Country Style - research

This room is a lighter, airier interpretation of the classic country look. There is timber furniture designed with the open shelving and solid lines of traditional rustic pieces, but it has a modern finish. The floral prints of classic country schemes are retained but used sparingly and they're set against clear, fresh colours and plenty of plain accessories and fabrics.

Huge windows that let the light pour in and plenty of vibrant colour give this dining room a fun, invigorating feel. The old wooden shutters and panelled walls lend a rustic note, which is brought up to date with strong shades and simple styling.

This dining room is part of an open - plan living and dining area that has a rich, eclectic feel. It's full of fascinating old furniture and unusual finds, and its pale walls and dark wooden floor are the ideal backdrop to exhibit them.

This bright little dining room has a conservatory feel thanks to the dramatic tulip - patterned curtains and wicker chairs. A mix of old and new furniture gives it bags of character and a round dining table invites cosy, sociable meals.

Old pine furniture gets a modern twist with cornflower blue walls and a stylish display of china in this welcoming room.

Classic country ingredients - the dresser, the wooden floor, the chunky table - get an original, creative twist in this unique room. The flooring has writing on it, the dresser has a finish that's deliberately designed to chip and become distressed, and a deliciously ornate wirework chandelier hangs low over the table.

The mood is clean and serene in this pretty, white dining room. There's plenty of natural light thanks to huge French windows, and white walls, furniture and china make the most of that, setting a relaxed, fresh tone.
