Kitchen of Retro Style - research

Hot pink and vibrant geometric stripes bring a hint of lively psychedelic kitsch to a contemporary kitchen. All the colour power comes from the walls, with white units and gleaming steel appliances offering a clean contrast.

Reflecting the fashion for 1950s looks, this contemporary kitchen design features key styling elements from that decade: units with gently rounded edges, bold tiled flooring and light, bright finishes in wood, glass and stainless steel.

This scheme was inspired by the dresser at the far end of the room, which is a copy of  an original 1950s design. A fresh colour scheme of blue and cream, along with plenty of chrome details, strikes the right style note, but the overall effect is calming rather than kitsch.
