Kitchen of Budget Style - research

Amazingly, drab white and grey once pervaded this kitchen. Chic contemporary colours and materials now shine from every corner - and this smart scheme was pulled off without replacing a single unit.

A large kitchen can handle strong colour and there's no more powerful combination than deep raspberry red and sharp yellow. Together they create a warm, stimulating atmosphere in this high - ceilinged Victoria room.

Vivid blue forms a bold contrast with cream to bring striking colour to this small kitchen. At the same time, using it to cover walls, tiles and units ensure a streamlined look.

Basic white units are the least expensive option from any supplier, but can be transformed with paint to give you your own unique look. Once you've got the framework of the kitchen looking good, you can introduce inexpensive fittings, flooring and work surfaces without compromising the room's style.

This Kitchen has the look of an expensive handmade design, but is actually made up of end - of - range units bought from three different stores. A clever makeover with cream paint has turned them into a matching set,  creating a charming country - style kitchen for a period house.
